David Orr writes, “The plain fact is that the world does not need more successful people, but it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane. And these qualities have little to do with success as our culture has defined it.”
Even though my world has been shrouded in autumn’s mist these past few days, I see clearly the wisdom in Orr’s statement. May we all strive to make this world habitable and humane for everyone (especially including beings that can not advocate for themselves.)

Amen and thank you, Erin–I’ve been wrestling with this concept off and on all week. The wording and the perspective there are surely helpful in that.
