Wonder Wednesdays – Misplaced Blossom – In Passing

This blossom. This singular blossom on my Christmas (or really Thanksgiving) Cactus is reminding me that even though it has been cold (very COLD) here, somewhere there are flowers. Lots of flowers. And in other places, the flowers are gone. Or yet to come.

In PassingĀ
~by Lisel Mueller

How swiftly the strained honey
of afternoon light
flows into darkness

and the closed bud shrugs off
its special mystery
in order to break into blossom:

as if what exists, exists
so that it can be lost
and become precious
